Shirley, you are Welcome. Sorry for your loss.
please note, I did not write it.
Lorin J. Rose, 68, of Bearsville, a gentle giant of a man with a sharp wit and a large vocabulary ( even though he couldn’t spell!) died on Monday April 22, 2024 at his home. It seems fitting that he passed away on “Earth Day” as no one loved the land and nature more than him.
Born Feb. 27, 1956, son of the late Malcolm and Betty Busch Rose. Living most of his life in Bearsville, he attended Onteora Central Schools and UCCC. Lorin loved working with his hands and building things. He was the co-owner of I. J. Rose & Sons, Inc., succeeding his Father and Uncles in the business. He also owned Bearsville Auto Parts in the 1990’s. A founding member of the “Geezer Corps”, with his fellow members he worked on multiple volunteer projects around the town. Always ready to lend a helping hand, his brother-in-law nicknamed him, ” the saviour of Rose Lane”. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball, golf, and always rooted on his beloved NY Mets, no matter how many times they broke his heart. In his later years, Lorin took to writing poetry.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, his much loved dogs: Poncho and Lefty, a sister Carolyn of Vancouver, WA., a brother David of Hot Springs, AR, several cousins and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Hi Jay! Good to “see” you.
